June 2018 Canvas-Cream Catcher By Heather Thompson

I wanted to make something creative with the main kit and the fussy cut elements that came with the 13 arts paper. SO I decided make a dream catcher. Not having an embroidery ring to part with, I just made my own hoop to used out of a plastic lid. It worked perfect, and it didn’t cost a thing.

Mixed Media Canvas by Ginny

Hello All!

Here is my last project made with the June Kit from Tres Jolie Kits.

This is my second project made with the Mixed Media Kit….. a canvas.

I thoroughly enjoyed doing this project, it was so much fun!

So lets go through step by step and I can show you how the end result was achieved!

I started by painting the 5×7 inch canvas with clear gesso

I used the two brown Alcohol Inks from the Mixed Media Kit, Caramel and Latte.
I added a blue, Stonewashed and a mixative, Gold, from my stash as well.

I sprinkled droplets of the two inks, Caramel and Latte onto the canvas.

I then used some blending solution over the ink droplets to make them ‘run’ and blend together.

This solution was also from stash but is handy when working with alcohol inks.

This is what the canvas looked like after the blue and gold had been added with more blending solution.

I cut the leaves and flowers from 13 Arts paper……..

like so…..

and the flowers….

I then used the texture paste from the Mixed Media Kit with a stencil to add more detail across the layout.

To adhere the fussy cut leaves and flowers to the canvas I used a gel medium and used it underneath and over the top of the cut pieces to completely stick them and protect them on the canvas.

The butterflies from the Prima set I did slightly differently to each other. The big butterfly I painted the concave parts with the gold Mixative. the smaller one I gently rubbed the gold over the risen pattern only wit my finger.

Then using a piece of cloth I then gently rubbed in some of the blue alcohol ink around the risen borders of the butterflies in various depths of strength.

I glued these to the canas with my hot glue gun.

Next I used these Microspheres from the Mixed Media kit….

a poured/sprinkled them where I wanted them into already applied gel medium.
The medium will take a while to dry but will dry clear leaving just the microspheres.

Like this…

And I created a butterfly trail with them too!

Thus erse was cut from the paper I showed you earlier too and I inked round the edges with the gold mixative.

I popped it on a piece of cardboard to add height and glued onto the canvas.

And here is the finished canvas.

Dream layout

Hello all,

I’m back with another layout today made using the June Kit from Tres Jolie Kits.

This layout is actually very simple, with only a little paper layering, and fussy cutting.

For this one I used the 13 Arts papers in the kit.

These are gorgeous papers from 13 Arts.

I used one of the papers as a torn background border down the centre of my layout, the edges torn as always!

I ran a piece of the beautiful lace down one side of this paper layer just slightly slotting it underneath.

And splattered the background with the Patina Ink from the Mixed media kit.

Again I did a lot of fussy cutting for this layout. I slotted them into my photo backing layers along with the lovely resin feathers.

The photo is popped up on an a piece of cardboard so I have plenty of room to slot other embellishments under. My photos are backed with a piece of matching 13 Arts Paper with torn edges (or use a distressing tool)

I added some lovely lace leaves, the shabby chic resins feathers and flowers.

I cut the word for my title out of the 13 Arts paper: All Good Things.

June Sketch Layout By Phyllis

Hi Crafty Friends!  Phyllis here again to share my layout for the June Sketch Challenge at Tres Jolie!  I used 13 Arts papers to create this layout!  13 Arts papers~Frosty Morning,  In the Garden,  Cold Day and Sending Flowers.

I begin with adding White Crackle Texture paste thru a stencil,  then I ink stamped for added interest.  I wanted 13 Arts In the Garden design to show thru so I tore Frosty Morning paper and tucked In the Garden behind so it was peeking thru.

Then I got my die machine out and cut out 2 doilies for some layering,  for the doilie I used 13 Arts Cold Day paper this brought a nice pop to the design!

I then cut some photo matting from Sending Flowers and a couple tags.   I loved 13 Arts back of In the Garden it has beautiful Leaves,  I decided to fussy cut a few to add to the Prima Flowers.  And for a darker pop of color I added some Black trim from the June Kit.  One more embellishment I added was from the Prima Shabby Chic trinket pack,  it added a nice touch to this layout reminded me of a garden.  Once everything was in place I glued it all down and then added some splatters of black ink spray.

The papers in Tres Jolie June Kit are so Elegant and have a vintage feel to them,  you will love them!  There are so many options to create your memories with!  Hope you get a chance to create with this beautiful kit!  Be sure to enter your creation for the June Sketch Challenge!

June Sketch Layout with Ginny

Hello everyone!

Ginny here with you today, to share with you my sketch layout for the challenge this month here at Tres Jolie!

Here is the sketch:

Dont you agree it’s a gorgeous sketch to get the inspiration going? Carry on reading further down this blog post for details on how you can enter this months challenge.

Here is my interpretation of the sketch

Photo Tutorial

I have done a step by step photo tutorial of my process making this layout.

I chose my backing papers, this one – Misty Foils.

and this one – The Good news.

After trimming 1cm off from round all sides of the paper, I then heavily distressed it – to the point some of you will think I’ve torn it!

Layer this paper up on top of the ‘The Good News’ paper

I cut some small pieces of the lace, about 1 1/2″ and slotted them into the bigger gaps/tears round the edges of the top background paper. This is a cheat, it makes it look like there is a border of lace in between the background papers but saves you on the amount of lace used so you loads more lace for another project!

I used the chipboard piece, I painted it first with gesso and then when dry I heat embossed it with a white and silver embossing powder.

I placed my photo through the chipboard oval and glued it on the layout.

I cut a piece of the beautiful lace to fit the length of my top background paper and glued into position. I splatted the background with some drops of one of the alcohol inks from the Mixed Media kit.

I added a doily behind the photo and chipboard on the left.

I then used the pack of gorgeous pink paper roses ( I loved the leaves in this too)

I made an arrangement round the bottom left side of the photo/frame…

and a smaller one round the top right of the photo/frame

I bent the curled wires into a rounded shape

and added them into the flower clusters

I love these Shabby Chic Garden Treasures and used the ladder and the watering can in this layout.

I added the watering can to the left side of the layout, tucking it underneath some of the leaves.

Now for the little details… the microspheres I dropped into some gel medium dotted around the layout

I  tucked in some dusky red twine tied into bows into the flower clusters.

Lastly as sometimes happens when I design a page I start of not using texture paste and stencils and then by the end I decide I want to use it! This was one of those layouts, so at this point I then added patches of stencilling around the design.

Last thing on the layout was some random stamping with black distress ink. I think it just adds a bit more detail and depth to the background of the layout and makes the layout ‘pop’ .

And voila! a finished layout.

Fancy having a go yourself with the sketch?

So here is how to enter this months sketch challenge…

Create your layout by the end of the month and add the layout to the Facebook Gallery photo album to be in with a chance to win a prize,  which can be found here:

June Mixed Media Kit Butterfly

Hello all! Ginny here!

I’m back today with my 1st project made with the June Mixed Media Kit from Tres Jolie! I loved these butterflies from Prima to alter!

I have done a photo tutorial of my process in creating this altered piece.

So lets start…..  🙂

* I started with the Prima Matte Resins, I chose my butterfly to use with the stand.

*I gave the base a coat of gesso.

*To colour the butterfly and the base I used the Alcohol inks from the mixed media kit.

*Put a drop of each colour on a craft sheet, I used some blending solution with the inks which makes them easier to use and then you get the blended/bleeding look.

*With a paint brush I roughly brushed over randomly the inks starting with the palest brown first and then the darker one to create a mottled effect. Drying slightly between each colour application

*When almost dry I then added the patina in various places over the top of the browns.

*I repeated this process with the stand.

*Also in the mixed media kit was the Magic Powder. I made a coloured paste with it and some beige acrylic pant and then added the paste in areas over the butterfly to add depth and texture.

*I cut some of the gorgeous green rhinestones from the kit and glued them on to the body of the butterfly. I added some cheesecloth to make the base of my embellishment cluster.

*I wanted to use some wording on my project, so I chose and cut out some words from the 13 Arts Paper All Good Things to use later.

*Now I built up the embellishment cluster using flowers and leaves from the June scrapbook kit, some smaller rhinestones cut into small lengths and draped over the cheesecloth and the leaves. Using some gel medium dabbed in places over the butterfly I then dropped some seed beads into it.

*I finished off with the cut out wording which I edged with some Viva Gold and then glued them onto the embellishment clusters.

*The base I did similarly with the cheesecloth first, then a leaf and flowers, gems and  wording.

*Lastly I used some more of the Viva Inka Gold from my own stash to the edges of the butterfly and to the antennae as well.

*Gently push the butterfly onto the wire stand. There is a hole already in the base of the butterfly to do this.

*Now for a couple of close ups of the project.

June Scrapbook kit layout with Ginny……

Hi Everyone!

It’s Ginny here with you today and I am going to share with you a layout I have created  using the June Tres Jolie Scrapbook kit

I loved these 13 Arts papers in this kit especially the darker neutral  coloured papers.

I used two of the papers for this layout, ‘Cold Days’ and ‘Days & Nights’. I also used the ‘All Good Things’ paper to fussy cut the feathers out from.

I used the darker paper as my background paper and tore the lighter one create the band across the middle.

You will see in the close ups I used a few other bits of fussy cutting around the layout too.

I wanted to create a dream catcher effect with the fussy cut feathers and combined it with the Prima flower vine to create this effect.

On the background I used a little texture paste, from the Mixed Media kit, with a Prima stencil.

I love the little watering can from The Prima Shabby Chic Treasures set.

I love the coloured water splats that are on the background of the lighter background paper, I arranged my layout to make sure I could see some of these in my design.

This cluster is fussy cut out of the ‘All Good Things’ paper and slotted behind my photo.

The photo I layered up on a roughly torn piece, that is just slightly bigger then my photo, from the other paper paper collection in the June Kit, Prima – Vintage Floral – Pink Promises. This was then mounted on a piece of cardboard (or use foam pads) to lift it up off the background papers to add a little definition.

I finished off by adding a couple of little paper flowers and the fussy cut leafy sprays.

Introducing Ginny

Hi there!

I am so excited to be Guest Designing for Kim in her new venture with Tres Jolie Kits!

And you havent got long to wait now as the first kit reveal is on the 1st of June!!

You are going to love these kits that Kim has put together, full off beautiful papers, gorgeous embellishments and pretty flowers!

These kits are perfect for layouts, altered projects and cards as we are going to be showing you very soon!

But firstly a little bit about me…

My name is Ginny and I live in Monmouthshire, Wales in the UK with my family and my fur baby, Evie, a Labradoodle.

My two children and my dog are the main subjects in my scrapbooking. I have been scrapbooking for about 10 years having been introduced to it by my mum who is also a keen scrap booker and card maker. I been obsessed by it ever since. Scrapbooking joins together my love of photography and paper crafting and most importantly preserving those memories!

Apart from scrapbooking I love to do altered projects and canvases.

My style? – I would say it is romantic, floral, shabby chic and distressed, I do like the odd masculine page… I do have a son to scrap,  who dosent appreciate flowers on all of his layouts!

I do love using mixed media on my layouts, there nothing nicer then getting in a crafty mess and having mucky fingers and mists and paints splattered everywhere!

Design Team Introductions!

Hi, there!

First off, I just want to say that Kim, the owner of Tres Jolie Kits has put together some amazing kits that are filled with MANY beautiful things, and if you love gorgeous, elegant papers and embellishments, you will love these kits! We are so excited for our first reveal, June 1st! This week we are introducing our designers and guest designers, so be sure to check the blog every day this week so you can see who we are, and some sneak peeks of the projects we are working on.

So, I’ll kick off the introductions: My name is Rae and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada with my family- husband, three kids, and cat. I used to be a high school English teacher, but now I work in the pharmaceutical science industry as an editor, and I get to do that from home!

Scrapbooking has been a huge part of my life for about 10 years now- I enjoy being creative and making pretty things.  I love to do layouts and altered projects. My favorite embellishment is FLOWERS, so I put them on 99% of my projects, even my masculine layouts. I don’t know how you would describe my style, but I love a sophisticated look with many small details! Here’s a sneak peek of a project that I have made with the June scrapbook kit that I think captures my style:

Be sure to check the blog tomorrow so you can meet another member of our design team and see another sneak peek of what you can buy in June!
