Mixed Media Butterfly with Rae

Hello and Happy Saturday!

Today I’m sharing a project that I made using the June mixed media kit.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about how awesome this kit is! The Prima Marketing resin butterfly pack is BEAUTIFUL! And those alcohol ink colors are so pretty! Here’s what I came up with:

There are two large butterflies in the set, and for this project I used the one with indentations on the wings. I mixed the Ranger Texture Paste and the 13 Arts Magic Powder to create a light fluff. I filled each of the holes half way with the mixture, then added some loose pearls from my stash. Then I added some of the 13 Arts brown microbeads to fill in the visible spots of the mixture.

Once dried, I added the alcohol inks. First, I added the patina color to the entire butterfly, then I added the browns to the pearls.

The color was pretty bold, so I toned the blue down with some white gesso. Then I added some copper wax paste to highlight the texture and give it a distressed, aged look. You can see the details in this close up below:

I decided to add this butterfly to the stand that came in the resin butterfly set. I primed the metal part and the wood circle with gesso. I added a couple of metal flowers from my stash as well, then brushed the entire piece with some of the alcohol inks over the gesso. I added some more texture paste to the middle and poured more of the brown microbeads to it so it filled the metal. I used some of the green rhinestone strand from the kit to the wood circle. Lastly, I added some copper wax paste like I did to the butterfly.

Dream layout

Hello all,

I’m back with another layout today made using the June Kit from Tres Jolie Kits.

This layout is actually very simple, with only a little paper layering, and fussy cutting.

For this one I used the 13 Arts papers in the kit.

These are gorgeous papers from 13 Arts.

I used one of the papers as a torn background border down the centre of my layout, the edges torn as always!

I ran a piece of the beautiful lace down one side of this paper layer just slightly slotting it underneath.

And splattered the background with the Patina Ink from the Mixed media kit.

Again I did a lot of fussy cutting for this layout. I slotted them into my photo backing layers along with the lovely resin feathers.

The photo is popped up on an a piece of cardboard so I have plenty of room to slot other embellishments under. My photos are backed with a piece of matching 13 Arts Paper with torn edges (or use a distressing tool)

I added some lovely lace leaves, the shabby chic resins feathers and flowers.

I cut the word for my title out of the 13 Arts paper: All Good Things.

June Sketch Layout By Phyllis

Hi Crafty Friends!  Phyllis here again to share my layout for the June Sketch Challenge at Tres Jolie!  I used 13 Arts papers to create this layout!  13 Arts papers~Frosty Morning,  In the Garden,  Cold Day and Sending Flowers.

I begin with adding White Crackle Texture paste thru a stencil,  then I ink stamped for added interest.  I wanted 13 Arts In the Garden design to show thru so I tore Frosty Morning paper and tucked In the Garden behind so it was peeking thru.

Then I got my die machine out and cut out 2 doilies for some layering,  for the doilie I used 13 Arts Cold Day paper this brought a nice pop to the design!

I then cut some photo matting from Sending Flowers and a couple tags.   I loved 13 Arts back of In the Garden it has beautiful Leaves,  I decided to fussy cut a few to add to the Prima Flowers.  And for a darker pop of color I added some Black trim from the June Kit.  One more embellishment I added was from the Prima Shabby Chic trinket pack,  it added a nice touch to this layout reminded me of a garden.  Once everything was in place I glued it all down and then added some splatters of black ink spray.

The papers in Tres Jolie June Kit are so Elegant and have a vintage feel to them,  you will love them!  There are so many options to create your memories with!  Hope you get a chance to create with this beautiful kit!  Be sure to enter your creation for the June Sketch Challenge!

Simple & Elegant Layout By Phyllis

Hello Crafty Friends Phyllis here to share another layout I created using Tres Jolie June Kit!  The papers in this kit are Gorgeous!  In my creative mind I could see wedding layouts with 13 Arts papers from the kit so for this layout that’s what stuck in mind!

I started out using 13 Arts Days & Nights paper used it for the base of my layout.  Then I took 13 Arts All Good Things paper and tore the woodgrain side and used the torn part on the otherside to lay behind the woodgrain paper.

I added the beautiful lace from the kit for nice texture and also adding elegance to the design.

I cut up my matting from 13 Arts Cold Days and Sending Flowers papers,  layered them and then added dimension recycling my packages that come in the mail.  I also added some cheesecloth from my stash behind the photo matting.

I added Prima’s Floral Sprig of flowers and Prima’s paper flowers that come in the kit.  The yellow Prima flowers were a nice pop to the layout!

With Prima’s Resin Watering can and Ladder I added a light coat of Acrylic paint just to add a little color to it.  I also added the Leaf appliques that come in the kit,  they’re so beautiful and add a nice touch to the layout!

From my stash I added some Art Stones for a touch of texture and interest!  I completed the layout by splattering some Gold and Baby Blue acrylic paint.

Here you can see the layers of paper and embellishments!

The papers in Tres Jolie June Kit are so Elegant and have a vintage feel to them,  you will love them!  There are so many options to create your memories with!  Hope you get a chance to create with this beautiful kit!  Be sure to enter your creation for the June Sketch Challenge!

Monday Layout Madness

Hey everyone, hope you had a fantastic weekend. I did that’s why I’m a bit late with my post today.

It’s Kim and I’m back with some Monday Layout Madness. I’ve shared a layout and a mixed media project. Well today It’s going to be all about the layouts.

I created these layouts using the amazing June Kit:

There are still some available here.

First up is Amazing. I used a couple of selfies from my phone.

I mixed my papers, using both the Prima and 13@rts papers. I did a bit of fussy cutting from one of the 13@rts sheet and layered that under my photos and in my floral cluster.

I added a few green flowers from my stash. I also embossed all my chipboard pieces with a couple different embossing powders.

This was a fun and simple layout to create.

Next up is one with a bit more mixed media:

I loved the watercolor background look of this sheet of paper. I added more teal to it with a couple of mist. I also did some light stenciling with some white crackle paste.

I layered the white and black lace under the bottom of the photo. I really loved the lace in the kit. I also did some fussy cutting and tucked that in too.

Thanks for joining me on my layout madness. There are still subscriptions available here. Or if you just want to try out a single kit, go here. I suggest the subscription, because kits are going fast.

The DT will be back the rest of the week to show off more of their amazing projects, along with tutorials.

Thanks for stopping by.

Remember Layout with Rae

Happy Saturday!

Today I am sharing the last layout I made with the June kit.  And, I challenged myself to not use my paper distresser, which I rarely do. But, sometimes I really enjoy the look of sharp edges, and I thought the different patterns of the Prima Marketing and 13 Arts papers would look nice just inked with black chalk ink. I love the muted colors of these papers so much and I thought it would be nice to add some contrast the contrast of adding black, paired with a black and white photo. Here’s the result:

Here’s a closeup of the edges of the papers that I heavily added chalk ink to. And, you can see the beautiful black lace from the kit peeking out between some of the layers.

Under my photo I added a few different layers of items: I did a bunch of fussy cutting of the Prima Marketing paper that had the pink roses, and I also did the same thing on some of the 13 Arts papers with flowers as well. The pink Prima Marketing flowers from the kit match papers perfectly!

I did add a couple of things from my stash- some bluish-green flowers to coordinate with the papers, and also some chipboard that is a quatrefoil that I added some black and gold embossing powders to.

For balance of the design, I added an embellishment cluster at the bottom left of the layout. I added some resin feathers, pink roses, Creative Embellishments berry chipboard, all from the kit, and I added more of the blue flowers and chipboard from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! If you still haven’t purchased a June kit, you can purchase one HERE on the home page, or even better, subscribe!

June Sketch Layout with Ginny

Hello everyone!

Ginny here with you today, to share with you my sketch layout for the challenge this month here at Tres Jolie!

Here is the sketch:

Dont you agree it’s a gorgeous sketch to get the inspiration going? Carry on reading further down this blog post for details on how you can enter this months challenge.

Here is my interpretation of the sketch

Photo Tutorial

I have done a step by step photo tutorial of my process making this layout.

I chose my backing papers, this one – Misty Foils.

and this one – The Good news.

After trimming 1cm off from round all sides of the paper, I then heavily distressed it – to the point some of you will think I’ve torn it!

Layer this paper up on top of the ‘The Good News’ paper

I cut some small pieces of the lace, about 1 1/2″ and slotted them into the bigger gaps/tears round the edges of the top background paper. This is a cheat, it makes it look like there is a border of lace in between the background papers but saves you on the amount of lace used so you loads more lace for another project!

I used the chipboard piece, I painted it first with gesso and then when dry I heat embossed it with a white and silver embossing powder.

I placed my photo through the chipboard oval and glued it on the layout.

I cut a piece of the beautiful lace to fit the length of my top background paper and glued into position. I splatted the background with some drops of one of the alcohol inks from the Mixed Media kit.

I added a doily behind the photo and chipboard on the left.

I then used the pack of gorgeous pink paper roses ( I loved the leaves in this too)

I made an arrangement round the bottom left side of the photo/frame…

and a smaller one round the top right of the photo/frame

I bent the curled wires into a rounded shape

and added them into the flower clusters

I love these Shabby Chic Garden Treasures and used the ladder and the watering can in this layout.

I added the watering can to the left side of the layout, tucking it underneath some of the leaves.

Now for the little details… the microspheres I dropped into some gel medium dotted around the layout

I  tucked in some dusky red twine tied into bows into the flower clusters.

Lastly as sometimes happens when I design a page I start of not using texture paste and stencils and then by the end I decide I want to use it! This was one of those layouts, so at this point I then added patches of stencilling around the design.

Last thing on the layout was some random stamping with black distress ink. I think it just adds a bit more detail and depth to the background of the layout and makes the layout ‘pop’ .

And voila! a finished layout.

Fancy having a go yourself with the sketch?

So here is how to enter this months sketch challenge…

June Kit Sketch Challenge By Heather Thompson

Happy Memories

Hello All, today I want to share another page I made with the Tres Jolie Main Kit. I also added a few extras that came in the card kit. This is a picture of Maksim and I.  We had a night on the town while visiting over in England. A proper pub, a posh restaurant and the English hospitality and warmth.

I based this page of the sketch that Kim made for the June Kit.

I made a short video of the creative process, and the evolution of this page.

Here are a few close ups…..

“Precious” Layout with Rae

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a layout I made using the lovely June scrapbooking kit. I have a whole collection of layout that I do using vintage images just for fun, and this is my latest one. I found this vintage image on Pinterest, which is my go-to source for vintage photos.

I kept this layout pretty simple- I didn’t do any stamping or stenciling, which is kind of unusual for me, but I LOVE the 13 Arts and Prima Marketing papers so much, I just wanted to let the beauty of shine through.

I started by ripping the blue 13 Arts paper, and adding it to the Prima Marketing blue rose paper. I distressed the paper edges with a paper distresser, and some grey ink.

I added some more layers using a die cut doily, and two tags that I cut free hand from the Prima Marketing paper. I added some thin twine to the tags from my stash. I cut some of the 13 Arts dark grey wood paper and added some lace to the photo mat. I like the balance it brings between the dark photo and paper and how it flows with the lighter papers of the background.

In this closeup you can see that I added the appliques to my flower clusters. I also added the Creative Embellishments berry chipboard- I inked the chipboard black, and then added some fine embossing powder in gold, intentionally leaving some parts without the powder to give the chipboard a distressed look.

Here’s a closer look at one of my flower/embellishment clusters where you can also see the Prima Marketing resin feathers. The blue flower is from my stash, but the pink ones, along with the leaves are from kit, from Little Birdie.
