Remember Layout with Rae

Happy Saturday!

Today I am sharing the last layout I made with the June kit.  And, I challenged myself to not use my paper distresser, which I rarely do. But, sometimes I really enjoy the look of sharp edges, and I thought the different patterns of the Prima Marketing and 13 Arts papers would look nice just inked with black chalk ink. I love the muted colors of these papers so much and I thought it would be nice to add some contrast the contrast of adding black, paired with a black and white photo. Here’s the result:

Here’s a closeup of the edges of the papers that I heavily added chalk ink to. And, you can see the beautiful black lace from the kit peeking out between some of the layers.

Under my photo I added a few different layers of items: I did a bunch of fussy cutting of the Prima Marketing paper that had the pink roses, and I also did the same thing on some of the 13 Arts papers with flowers as well. The pink Prima Marketing flowers from the kit match papers perfectly!

I did add a couple of things from my stash- some bluish-green flowers to coordinate with the papers, and also some chipboard that is a quatrefoil that I added some black and gold embossing powders to.

For balance of the design, I added an embellishment cluster at the bottom left of the layout. I added some resin feathers, pink roses, Creative Embellishments berry chipboard, all from the kit, and I added more of the blue flowers and chipboard from my stash.

June Sketch Layout with Ginny

Hello everyone!

Ginny here with you today, to share with you my sketch layout for the challenge this month here at Tres Jolie!

Here is the sketch:

Dont you agree it’s a gorgeous sketch to get the inspiration going? Carry on reading further down this blog post for details on how you can enter this months challenge.

Here is my interpretation of the sketch

Photo Tutorial

I have done a step by step photo tutorial of my process making this layout.

I chose my backing papers, this one – Misty Foils.

and this one – The Good news.

After trimming 1cm off from round all sides of the paper, I then heavily distressed it – to the point some of you will think I’ve torn it!

Layer this paper up on top of the ‘The Good News’ paper

I cut some small pieces of the lace, about 1 1/2″ and slotted them into the bigger gaps/tears round the edges of the top background paper. This is a cheat, it makes it look like there is a border of lace in between the background papers but saves you on the amount of lace used so you loads more lace for another project!

I used the chipboard piece, I painted it first with gesso and then when dry I heat embossed it with a white and silver embossing powder.

I placed my photo through the chipboard oval and glued it on the layout.

I cut a piece of the beautiful lace to fit the length of my top background paper and glued into position. I splatted the background with some drops of one of the alcohol inks from the Mixed Media kit.

I added a doily behind the photo and chipboard on the left.

I then used the pack of gorgeous pink paper roses ( I loved the leaves in this too)

I made an arrangement round the bottom left side of the photo/frame…

and a smaller one round the top right of the photo/frame

I bent the curled wires into a rounded shape

and added them into the flower clusters

I love these Shabby Chic Garden Treasures and used the ladder and the watering can in this layout.

I added the watering can to the left side of the layout, tucking it underneath some of the leaves.

Now for the little details… the microspheres I dropped into some gel medium dotted around the layout

I  tucked in some dusky red twine tied into bows into the flower clusters.

Lastly as sometimes happens when I design a page I start of not using texture paste and stencils and then by the end I decide I want to use it! This was one of those layouts, so at this point I then added patches of stencilling around the design.

Last thing on the layout was some random stamping with black distress ink. I think it just adds a bit more detail and depth to the background of the layout and makes the layout ‘pop’ .

And voila! a finished layout.

Fancy having a go yourself with the sketch?

So here is how to enter this months sketch challenge…

June Kit Sketch Challenge By Heather Thompson

Happy Memories

Hello All, today I want to share another page I made with the Tres Jolie Main Kit. I also added a few extras that came in the card kit. This is a picture of Maksim and I.  We had a night on the town while visiting over in England. A proper pub, a posh restaurant and the English hospitality and warmth.

I based this page of the sketch that Kim made for the June Kit.

I made a short video of the creative process, and the evolution of this page.

Here are a few close ups…..

Using various die-cuts from my stash, I used the 13@rts paper to add layers to the photo composition, along with fussy cutting elements from the “All Good Things”

We made so many happy memoires on our latest trip and the sketch gave me the inspiration to capture one of them. We hope to see you play along with the sketch this month with the fabulous June Kit.

“Precious” Layout with Rae

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a layout I made using the lovely June scrapbooking kit. I have a whole collection of layout that I do using vintage images just for fun, and this is my latest one. I found this vintage image on Pinterest, which is my go-to source for vintage photos.

I kept this layout pretty simple- I didn’t do any stamping or stenciling, which is kind of unusual for me, but I LOVE the 13 Arts and Prima Marketing papers so much, I just wanted to let the beauty of shine through.

I started by ripping the blue 13 Arts paper, and adding it to the Prima Marketing blue rose paper. I distressed the paper edges with a paper distresser, and some grey ink.

I added some more layers using a die cut doily, and two tags that I cut free hand from the Prima Marketing paper. I added some thin twine to the tags from my stash. I cut some of the 13 Arts dark grey wood paper and added some lace to the photo mat. I like the balance it brings between the dark photo and paper and how it flows with the lighter papers of the background.

In this closeup you can see that I added the appliques to my flower clusters. I also added the Creative Embellishments berry chipboard- I inked the chipboard black, and then added some fine embossing powder in gold, intentionally leaving some parts without the powder to give the chipboard a distressed look.

Here’s a closer look at one of my flower/embellishment clusters where you can also see the Prima Marketing resin feathers. The blue flower is from my stash, but the pink ones, along with the leaves are from kit, from Little Birdie.

Sketch Challenge Monday

Happy Monday everyone, it’s Kim here. Today is what I’m going to call sketch challenge Monday (later to be renamed challenge Monday). I’m going to reveal my take on the sketch.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my take on it:

Of course I used our gorgeous June kit which just revealed here . It’s filled with beautiful papers from 13@rts and Prima. Plus fun embellishments from Creative Embellishments and more Prima goodies.

How about some close-ups:

I took the frame and turned it on it’s side. I also embossed it with some Lindy’s embossing powder. I did a bit of background stamping.

I used a couple different sized flowers in my cluster. Plus I stuck the watering can in there. I loved the look of it. I added some lace to mimic the lace in the sketch. The words were cut from the die cut piece of paper.

This is my smaller cluster in the lower left had side of the page. I built it around the water pump. More background stamping, a flower, resin feather and word cut from the die cut paper.

Here is my little tip for the week: I have found that Lindy’s Flat Fabio C’est la Vie Cerise and Lindy’s Starburst Mist Tibetan Poppy Teal are great matches for the papers in this kit. If you have those in your stash try them out.

I can’t wait to see what you guys create based on the sketch. Don’t forget to load your entries in the sketch challenge folder here , so you will be eligible for the prize.

June Scrapbook kit layout with Ginny……

Hi Everyone!

It’s Ginny here with you today and I am going to share with you a layout I have created  using the June Tres Jolie Scrapbook kit

I loved these 13 Arts papers in this kit especially the darker neutral  coloured papers.

I used two of the papers for this layout, ‘Cold Days’ and ‘Days & Nights’. I also used the ‘All Good Things’ paper to fussy cut the feathers out from.

I used the darker paper as my background paper and tore the lighter one create the band across the middle.

You will see in the close ups I used a few other bits of fussy cutting around the layout too.

I wanted to create a dream catcher effect with the fussy cut feathers and combined it with the Prima flower vine to create this effect.

On the background I used a little texture paste, from the Mixed Media kit, with a Prima stencil.

I love the little watering can from The Prima Shabby Chic Treasures set.

I love the coloured water splats that are on the background of the lighter background paper, I arranged my layout to make sure I could see some of these in my design.

This cluster is fussy cut out of the ‘All Good Things’ paper and slotted behind my photo.

The photo I layered up on a roughly torn piece, that is just slightly bigger then my photo, from the other paper paper collection in the June Kit, Prima – Vintage Floral – Pink Promises. This was then mounted on a piece of cardboard (or use foam pads) to lift it up off the background papers to add a little definition.

I finished off by adding a couple of little paper flowers and the fussy cut leafy sprays.

Products Used on this layout:

From the Scrapbook kit:

13 Arts: Until Dawn: Cold Day

13 Arts: Until Dawn: Days & Nights

13 Arts: Until Dawn: All Good Things

Black Crochet Lace

Prima: Vintage Floral: Pink Promises

Prima Flowers: #631239

Prima: Shabby Chic Treasures: Garden Metals #892456

A Sketch Layout with Rae

Hello crafty friends!

Yesterday was our reveal our first kit- it’s so pretty! Today, I’m sharing a layout I made based on the sketch for our monthly challenge. Kim, owner of Tres Jolie kits designed this sketch, filled with elegant and romantic details. Check it out:

And here’s my take on it:

The dark blue 13 Arts paper that I used for the background reminded me of the picture I used, so I started my layout knowing I was going to incorporate these dark elements into the sketch page. I really wanted to draw attention to the photo so I kept the dark paper and dark elements to a minimum, but gave the page a nice flow of the mixture of tones.

The lace peeking out from under the main paper layer is from the kit, but I used a couple of different blue mist sprays (Lindy’s Stamp Gang  Time Travel Teal, and Tibetan Poppy Teal) from my stash to give it the teal color. I did this because as I was building my design, incorporating a doily (from my stash) with the lace was a bit too unbalanced with all of the white.

Here’s a closeup that shows how the lace is two-tone with the different mists. And, you can see the embossing of the Creative Embellishments chipboard frame. I used WOW! Embossing Powder in Verdigris, which has an amazing two-toned color with the green and gold.

I did quite a bit of fussy cutting of the 13 Arts paper that I used for layers peeking from under the doily and flowers. There are some amazing leaves, flowers and feathers. I also cut a piece of the Prima paper that had some printed elements that I used under the picture.

I cut up the Prima beaded vine and used it in different sections of the layout, including the bottom left of the page to follow the sketch. I added blue pearls from my stash to complete the look.

Introducing Kim

Hi everyone,

First let me welcome you all to Tres Jolie Kit Club. I’m Kim the owner and sometimes designer around here.

I’m so excited to be bringing you these kits. They have been a labor of love. A love of all things scrapbooking/crafting. I have created kits filled with all the latest products that are available. They are truly kits that I would love to receive each month. Just hang on another week for the reveal. If you have already subscribed, you kit will be going out later this week.

Let’s answer the question, who am I?

I live in the Midwest with my husband. We don’t have any children and we love to travel. We have both recently retired from Public Service and can now travel even more.

I began scrapbooking in 2001 after the death of my mother. I wanted to preserve all those memories in one place and I haven’t looked back. Currently, my scrapbooking consists of our travels, family history, current events with friends and family and lots of crazy selfies with the husband.

My style? That’s a good question. I love the romantic, shabby chic style, but I don’t always adhere to that. I like to mix it up with mediums and get my hands dirty too. One thing that you will always find on my layouts, flowers and chipboard.

How about a sneak peek? Here you go:

Make sure you come back tomorrow and meet more of the team. We will be introducing everyone all week long.

Don’t forget, we still have some subscription available. Those that subscribe before June 1st are eligible to win this:

That’s the full 12×12 paper pad of the Havana line from Prima. Along with coordinating embellishments. It will ship with the July 1st kit. So don’t miss out, head on over to our subscribe page and click that button.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
