Butterfly “Canvas” by Rae

Happy Saturday!

Today I’m sharing a “canvas” I made using some products from both the June scrapbook and mixed media kits. It’s not actually a canvas- I upcycled the Prima Marketing resin feather packaging which is a 4 in. X 12 in. box.

I flipped the box over and used the flat part. I cut a piece of the Prima Marketing Vintage Floral paper and glued it to the wood. In the closeup below, you can see some of the details- I added some stenciling using the Ranger paste from the mixed media kit in random spots on the paper, and then I added some gold wax paste over the stenciling to give it a bit of definition, and I also added some around the edges of the project.

I added some embellishments- the Prima Marketing metal ladder, and some Little Birdie roses and leaves that I dry-brushed using some white gesso.

I added some Prima Marketing rhinestone chain pieces from the mixed media kit to the leaves for added interest. I also added some wax paste to the roses.

This is one of the large resin butterflies from the mixed media kit. I painted it with a mixture of the Ranger paste and patina alcohol ink which became very light. The butterfly body is made from a couple of things from my stash0 The long swirl is a resin piece I made using a mould. In the center is a metal piece. Once glued together. I added some wax paste to highlight the texture and to give the center some definition. I finished off the butterfly by adding more of the green rhinestone chain.

Thanks for visiting the blog today! If you haven’t already subscribed, you can still purchase the June kits HERE! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
